About Our Canadian Butter Tart Moonshine
Bursting with sweet caramel flavours and undeniably buttery, our Ontario Butter Tart Moonshine has quickly become a local favourite and is now one of our most popular Ontario moonshines!
Since our early beginnings, we knew that Canadian moonshine heritage would become an integral part of starting an Ontario craft distillery in Perth.
About This Unique Ontario Moonshine Recipe
We started with a traditionally un-aged Canadian whisky moonshine recipe from Eastern Ontario - a trusted method for over 100 years.
The Reunion brand has quickly become a local creative lab for our Ontario craft distillery, experimenting with ingredients local to Ontario and creating some of Canada’s best moonshine flavours. In 2017, we perfected and launched our Ontario Butter Tart Moonshine recipe, inspired by Ontario's Best Butter Tart Festival, in Midland.
This event is the world’s largest butter tart festival, featuring over 150,000 Canadian butter tarts, a national tradition. The response to our new moonshine flavour from our local supporters was overwhelmingly positive, which prompted us to quickly make this delicious moonshine flavour a permanent addition to our seasonal drink lineup.

In these unprecedented times of the pandemic, our goal as a Canadian craft distillery consists of bringing everyone together by creating moments that unite people, regardless of physical distance, and for people to enjoy these sweet Canadian delights with us. The process of reuniting people is Reunion’s strong suit.
Mrs. Garrett’s Delicious Ontario Butter Tarts
We’ve partnered with Mrs. Garrett’s Bake Shop, a family-owned bakery in Inverary, Ontario, known for its authentic take on this Canadian delicacy. Their scrumptious Canadian butter tarts are featured in our new
Butter Tart Moonshine Box.
What started as a small order of 500 butter tarts as a tasty treat to accompany our Ontario Butter Tart Moonshine has now increased to over 15,000 Ontario butter tarts.
This 37-year-old Ontario bakery has withstood the test of time, with 3 core members of a small but mighty team who have been present since day 1.
When we asked Mrs. Garrett’s daughter if the bakery would be around for another 37 years, her response was a swift yes, with "plans for the grandchildren to continue the Canadian baking tradition". Everything in this little shop in South Frontenac Township, Ontario, is made daily by hand, with love!
