After a century-long whisky drought, we brought whisky back to Perth, Ontario in 2016.
Flash forward to today, we have over a decade of experience putting our stamp on contemporary Canadian whisky with our bourbon-style Rideau. This is what we’re all about: a blend of the traditional with something entirely new and different that breaks the classic Canadian whisky mould.
Named after the Rideau Trail, Lanark Highlands Rideau Whisky starts with first-use barrels from a cooperage that produces the most sought-after white oak barrels used for ageing bourbon - Kelvin Cooperage.
Our mash of corn, barley and rye is made from 100% locally grown and milled grains. We use spring water from right here in Lanark County. The end result is a smooth, complex, distinctive flavour that leaves a lasting impression in every dram.

Tasting Notes: Smooth, silky and sweet. You can expect the desirable characteristics of a Kentucky-Bourbon with a gentle caramel and vanilla profile contrasted against the smoky, oak notes from ageing in a world-class first-use white oak barrel.

CanadaVery smooth and sippable for a whiskey that's only been aged for 3 years. While I'm not usually a big fan of the spiciness of rye whiskeys, I found this one to be particularly good because it is somehow balanced by a sweet, almost bourbon-y finish. Sara and Dylan were also extremely pleasant to talk to during our visit. Will definitely be returning in the future to discover whatever new releases Top Shelf has in the pipeline!
