On April 8th, 2024, the Solar Eclipse captivated viewers across North America, stretching from Mexico to Canada. This rare celestial event, where the Moon moves between Earth and the Sun, descends parts of the continent into midday darkness. Notably, it marked Canada's first total solar eclipse since February 26, 1979. Here at Top Shelf Distillery in Perth, Ontario, we found ourselves in an ideal location to come together and witness this exciting  phenomenon unfold right before our eyes.

At the distillery, we hosted a Top Shelf solar eclipse celebration on the back patio. Our guests were treated to a goodie bag packed with moon cakes, starbursts, sun chips, and other space-themed treats to set the tone for the celestial event. Of course, to mark the occasion, we featured two specialty cocktails: our refreshing spring vodka lemonade and a delightful Bumbleberry Moonshine creation to conclude the festivities. 

Gathering together, following eclipse trivia, we sipped our cocktails as we watched the sky darken, experiencing something truly surreal. The atmosphere turned eerie as the birds hushed and the wind died down. And just like that, it was over. 

 Although, there's a joy in hosting an event that unites us as humans, It reminds us that we're merely a small part of this vast planet, yet we can effortlessly connect through good drinks and being together during a unique moment in history.
