Top Shelf: Demand Local
In recent years, there has been an unprecedented wave of support for local businesses, and with it an increasing number of Canadians who have made the choice not only to support local but demand it. We've seen it time and time again—with the LCBOs, Licensed Convenience Outlets (LCOs), and anyone else selling home-grown wine, beer, cider, or spirits.
The environmental and economic benefits are clear: "Demand Local" eliminates the need for international freight costs while simultaneously reducing the amount of fossil fuels burned in transportation. During the LCBO strike in July, Top Shelf completed 90% of its deliveries using our Electric Vehicle fleet—thus reducing emissions at every chance we could.
Demanding local also boosts municipal, provincial and national economies, recirculating money that would otherwise be channeled out. For example, a bottle of Top Shelf Vodka requires only $1.50 leave the province to cover the costs of the bottle and the cork. The rest stays right here in Ontario.
