Maple syrup encapsulates a uniquely Canadian identity. The sap from local forests within our trails is quintessential to Lanark County proudly claiming the title of the Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario. Its significance runs deep within our historical narrative and national identity. It was a natural choice to complement it with our Rideau Whisky, one of our Taste of the Trails whiskies.

Crafted in the Ontario Lanark Highlands, our whiskies embody the essence of Canadian craftsmanship. The Rideau Whisky undergoes a unique finishing process, aging in a #3 char barrel infused with the flavours of Dark Maple Syrup from Lanark County.

Utilizing locally sourced syrup adds a special dimension to the whisky, especially when it comes from the Pilote Family in Carleton Place. With over 25 years of experience in syrup production their expertise, deep connection to the land, and respect for their craft result in something truly remarkable.

Mike and Vic Pilote are integral to what sets Maple Rideau Whisky apart. As third-generation syrup producers they employ state-of-the-art equipment to create the finest quality syrup in the region. They are the trailblazers for this liquid gold, honouring traditional methods from our heritage.

When combined with our whisky, the result is nothing short of perfection. So, take a moment to unwind, pour yourself a glass of pure nature encapsulated in a glass and express gratitude to the land and for all that it has to offer.

At Top Shelf Distillers our mandate for our whisky is to use local grain, water sourcing and open land that is considered "conservation" for aging our barrels, exposed to environmental changes that could affect the taste of the whisky.

We're excited for you to discover more about the upcoming releases in the "Taste of the Trails" whisky collection.
