Cardamom Gin Fizz
The "Fizz" cocktail dates back to the 19th century and was commonly prepared with a whisk(e)y base; the "Gin Fizz" emerged as a riff. Then all other riffs—such as the "Vodka Fizz" or the "Rum Fizz"—emerged after that. The "fizz" comes from the sparkling water, but what differentiates a "Gin Rickey" (gin and soda water) from a Gin Fizz is that Fizzes include almost enough citrus juice to balance off the primary spirit, whereas a Gin Rickey or a "Vodka Soda" would only include an expression of citrus.
Well, that's it for the history lesson—enjoy this beautiful, refreshing cocktail and be transported to your favourite beach—no matter where you are.
