Cinnamon Simple Syrup
Although the warm spice of cinnamon might first call to mind willful hibernation on cold winter nights, it is actually a popular ingredient in tiki-style cocktails. Cinnamon complements fruity flavours such as apple, cranberry, pear, pineapple, and oranges to name a few. Elevate most any cocktail creation with this versatile syrup!
INGREDIENTS
- ½ cup of water
- ½ cup of sugar
- 2 large cinnamon sticks (20g)
DIRECTIONS
- Snap cinnamon sticks into smaller pieces and add to a dry saucepan.
- Toast cinnamon sticks over medium-high heat, stirring constantly until fragrant (about 4 minutes).
- Add water and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, remove from heat and add sugar.
- Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Let cool at room temperature.
- Remove the cinnamon sticks and keep in an airtight container (glass works best).
- Refrigerate.
